Sister Sandi’s memory will continue to live on at Resurrection University. We all enjoyed her presence on campus every day, and her light-hearted and fun attitude that kept everyone in good spirits. This video, created in her honor, reflects on the memories of Sister Sandi that we will all cherish: Sister Sandi Memorial Video
Sandra Marie Sosnowski, CSFN joined Resurrection University’s newly created Mission and Ministry Department in 2010. Known by all as Sister Sandi, she was the first to hold this position, and was responsible for the spiritual advisement and mentorship of students, faculty and staff of Resurrection University. Delivering the mission by reminding the ResU Community through CARES Cards, traveling trophies, Hat’s Off Awards, mission moments, Bible verses and scriptures on bulletin boards during Exam Weeks, and opening prayers at meetings and events, she taught all how to live the mission through their daily work and studies. Sister Sandi was fondly called by me and a few others… our reining Prayer in Chief!
Sister Sandi brought smiles to everyone she encountered and tasked herself with learning the names of every student each semester, as hundreds entered the doors of ResU. Two years ago, the University created the Sister Sandra Sosnowski Excellence in Mission and Ministry award which was designed to recognize faculty and staff contributions to the mission and core values of Resurrection University. Sister Sandi took much pleasure in developing the criteria, judging the nominations and selecting the honoree, along with a small committee.
Prior to Resurrection University, Sister Sandi was Chaplain for West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. She also taught elementary and junior high at several schools in the Chicago area and suburbs. Sister Sandi was a writer, editor and secretarial assistant for the General Chapter Publication of Rome, Italy, and was also Vice President of Mission Effectiveness for the Ethics Committee of Holy Family Medical Center. Sister also served on the University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB).
A memorial service for Sister Sandi will take place on Thursday, June 18 at 5 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church (2300 W. LeMoyne St., Chicago, IL, 60622), followed by a reception and tree dedication at Resurrection University.
